Need some advice from somebody who has been through this whole really worrying process as I am very stressed about the whole thing. I am having an eye test and a practice esterman test at Specsavers before I inform the DVLA and kick start the process. When do I tell my insurance company now or when I get the decision from the dvla?

When do I tell my insurance company I have glaucoma?

I was diagnosed with glaucoma 15 years ago, and so far have passed the DVLA test every time. Last time I renewed my car insurance I mentioned that I had glaucoma, they said that they did not want to know personal details, they are private and confidential, and as long as the DVLA issued me with a licence I could drive. This might not apply to other insurers of course.
Guess you need to wait till you get a decision from the DVLA, if you do not pass the DVLA test then you will not need your car insurance! Good luck with the DVLA test.

Hello, Your motor insurance policy tells you what medical conditions you need to report; glaucoma may be one. If in any doubt, contact your insurance company. If you fail to tell them about one of these conditions, your insurance might be invalid. Your insurance company should provide cover and keep your premium the same as long as the licensing agency allows you to keep driving and you tell the insurance company about any medical conditions that the policy says you must. It is best to check this now, rather than leaving it until you get a decision from the DVLA.
been through the same process and stress. Like others have stated I completed Specsavers test and waited for result which arrived some months later. At that point I informed my insurance company of my Glaucoma. They were not overly concerned once I had told them that DVLA had renewed my licence. They said they would add a note to my file to say I had called and why but providing DVLA happy so were they. Good luck.
Thank you I have done a practice test which went well so have reported it to the DVLA this week. I think like u I will wait for the result until I tell the insurance company as I passed the practice no problem so there shouldn't be any issues with my licence. Appreciate the response it's a very stressful experience.
