blood shot

Hi,

I had the preserflo shunt a couple of years ago and all ok.

I have woken up with a red blood shot patch on one eye. Not spread all over the eye, just one blob so to speak.

Is this anything to worry about? I’ve never had a blood shot eye before. Even before the procedure xx

Hello Bec, I’ve had the occasional blood shot eye and it does look very alarming, but usually it’s nothing to worry about and gradually disappears after either a few hours, or the next day. I think it can be due to a burst blood vessel. It is on your operated eye? After my Paul tube implant, my eye was quite blood shot surrounding the area of the implant. I could only see it if I gently lifted up my eyelid and thankfully it disappeared after a few weeks, but if you are really worried then I would try to get an appointment with your eye consultant just to be on the safe side. x

Thank you for replying 🥰

I have shunts in both eyes but it is just in the 1 eye. Just so strange I’ve never had it before and the op was two years ago. I have had no trauma to the eye at alll recently.

I have slightly low blood pressure too whether that is related or not who knows. We have a local eye a&e that I might just get it checked at.

Thank you xxx

I'm a bit late to this thread, but you can contact Community Urgent Eyecare Service (primaryeyecare.co.uk/servic... for an assessment. I had a red patch that they said was Episcleritis and it cleared after a few days. I've also previously had a burst blood vessel which looked awful but was nothing to worry about, again clearing on its own in a few days.
