Knock to the eye

Hi all,

I had a trabulectomy shunt (not sure which type) implanted nearly two years ago.

Today my 9 month was playing and hit me in the eye, it was horribly painful and I had a dull ache at the top of my eye for a couple of hours. Since then my vision has been more blurry than usual. The pain has gone. Should I be concerned and is there any need to get checked tomorrow or do you think I should wait for my check up in two weeks time?

Does anyone know of any danger to the eye if you are knocked where the implant is? Just curious and considering if getting back into rugby is as ridiculous as my head is telling me it is.

Many thanks

Phone 111 now tonight and ask them what you should do.

Definitely get it looked at asap, it’s possible the blow just decreased the pressure temporarily and your blurriness will go away, but I think if it was me I would get it checked out sooner rather than later.

Hi, I had a trab + bleb in June 24. If it was me I would get checked to be on safe side.A good option would help, I am sure. Good luck Angela x

I would get it checked out. Eyes are sensitive and especially after glaucoma surgery. I wear glasses even in the gym as I don’t want anything getting into my eye and I’m just over three months post trab

Hi. I would echo the above comments. Might not be anything to worry about but best get it checked out. I do hope you are okay.
