Looking for advice please, just been for a private eye test at Specsavers including Esterman Binocular visual field test, outcome was as follows.
Seen 98/120
Not seen 22/120
Blind spot No score given
Esterman Efficiency score 81
Just have one cluster of 3 missed lights just below horizontal line at 120° mark but rest are scattered about, no loss in central vision.
Just wondering if there's any point in sending this off to DVLA to try to get my licence back, if not then will just have to accept that driving again is no longer possible.
Glucoma clinic appointments keep getting cancelled so situation is very frustrating as feel all alone dealing with this with no one to turn to.

Hi, I can only answer based on my own experience and I have had 4 "passes" in recent years with lower "Esterman efficiency scores" than you have. As you suggest, the key thing is where the missed points are and if you are OK in the central 20 degree section then it will be the misses in the periphery that are significant. When you say the 120 degree mark, I'm guessing that means the 60 degree line on one side and the "pass" criteria is 120 degrees of vision with a minimum of 50 degrees on each side. Assuming your error scores are OK, then without any doubt, I would definitely submit your test. Very best wishes, I hope this is successful.
Hello, you do not say whether it was for appeal purposes. if it was, then the Optometrist should have discussed the results with you, and said whether in their professional opinion, it would be worth appealing or not. Compare these test results with the ones from your initial test at Specsavers. If they are similar the DVLA's decision will probably be the same. But as Jazzers has mentioned, you should still send the latest results to the DVLA so that they can review them.
Regarding cancelled appointments, always call the eye secretary. You have more chance of having an appointment made for you, especially if you have not been seen for a long period of time.
Phoning the appointment department is normally a wasted call and you will probably be told none available and you will be contacted when one becomes available.
Optometrist didn't really say either way but said result was similar to last time, misplaced last print out but I'm sure my overall scores were marginally better.
My last appointments were booked after ringing consultants secretary, they have a habit of cancelling glaucoma clinic day before appointment notifying you be text. Very maddening.
Hi. I recently had my license revoked 3 months ago on my specsavers dvla test. I appealed the decision and submitted my private results to the dvla a few months later. After sending them off I received a medical form to fill out two weeks later and then after sending that back a new three year license was issued with no question. My results are similar to what yours were. So I would recommend definitely sending them if you have already had your license revoked. Never give up!! The dvla application is always open to a new license if you have had it revoked. I personally rang the dvla and they said if you can prove you are ok medically to drive they will issue a new license. I’m only 36 so this was essential for me and my job.
No idea why I failed first time but I did request the results from Specsavers and my private tests I did after were significantly better. Probably a more relaxed environment really helped and less pressure.
Unfortunately it’s a terrible process and for me personally feels like there is a lack of support in the system from the dvla for this. I didn’t feel hopeful but I knew I had nothing to lose. Just try to stay positive and hopeful that your license will come back. Even if it doesn’t. Just pay again to go do a private fields and try again.
Heard back from DVLA 2 weeks ago saying I had to fill out application form to reapply for a licence, no medical form included so rang them up to double check if this was needed but told No not at this stage.
Opening mail yesterday then to my surprise they have issued me a 1 year licence, so obviously they still think I'm borderline but really didn't expect to get my licence back so soon after appealing.
Shame is I'll have to go through same upheaval next year but just the same pleased to be back on the road for time being. Really never thought I was unsafe to drive, if I was would happily surrender licence but sight is good despite glaucoma just that damn field vision test, talking of which did one in hospital 3 weeks ago and consultant said they'd been no changes in last 5 years or more so why I'm struggling with Specsavers test I've no idea but do appreciate that test is binocular not individual eyes on hospital equipment.
Like to thank all those who took time to reply to this and my other posts, it's really very much appreciated.
