I am planning on sailing and staying on a catamaran for over a week, I know I need travel sickness tablets! Are there any recommendations about which type to take if I am currently taking 1 drop of Monopost every night for glaucoma?

travel sickness tablets?
Hello Nikul. It's not so much about the eye drop you are taking but more about what type of glaucoma you have. If you have primary open angle glaucoma, travel sickness medication is fine. If you have primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) or narrow angles then this needs checking.
It's to do with your pupil enlarging due to the effect of the travel sickness tablets. If your drainage angle in your eye is narrow, the tablets may cause it to become narrower or shut off completely. However, if you have had laser treatment or surgery for your PACG or narrow angles, you may be ok to take them but you would need to check with your eye specialist first.
Thanks for the clarity. I have had 2 laser treatments for open angle glaucoma, the second time didn’t do the trick so well after 4 yrs +, so resorted to Monopost which seems to be working. Have eye specialist check up in 3weeks after 9 months, so hoping it’s still keeping pressures low as some damage to left nerve already,so I can ask him then. I know some sea sickness tablets are better than others so will do some more research too.
Thanks again, Jenny

Hi thanks! Pleased to say the Monopost is keeping my pressures nicely down after 9months! Such good news…asked consultant about sea sick tabs and said was fine to take any type as have had cataracts op and laser treatment. Not sure why another person answered not to take antihistamine ones??? Can’t remember what I’ve taken before, will research more.
If they have antihistamines..no
