Hi there. What tests are you due to have? As you have glaucoma in one eye but no vision in the other I think the standards are slightly different. For example I know that you will still need good field of vision in your other eye but you'll also need to be able to read a number plate from 20 meters away and be able to read the 6/12 line in an eye test. I would say that if you don't have any sight loss in your other eye then it should be ok.

I'll be doing the normal DVLA tests: 6/12 line with distance specs which is OK and field of vision test with both eyes together which I believe is either wearing your driving glasses or without. I think my field of vision is pretty good but not perfect and at my optician's one red dot which I missed at first, I then saw when they brightened it. My optician said I should definitely be OK but I am worried about the length of time I have to stare at the screen because I suffer with allergic rhinitis and my eyes water if I stare and cloud my glasses!

I really want any advice which might improve my chances of success.

I would just make them aware at the time of your test of your allergic rhinitis. If your optician said you should be ok then try not to worry too much about it. Also tell them that you have missed the red dot before but it helped with it being brightened. Try and make sure you have a quiet room to ensure there are minimal distractions and speak to them with any other concerns you might have.
