I am not sure what a false negative means? False positive is when you press but no light was shown. I had too many at first test and was told by DVLA it was ‘inconclusive “ and to re take, which I passed but don’t understand false negative.

How many false negative did you have when you pass and how many did you misses?

I have no idea I’m afraid as Specsavers did not share result. I understood false positives as it was the first time, in the middle of a heatwave with a technician who had not done it before! I rang DVLA to find out why it was inconclusive, they told me too many false positives. Retested at different Specsavers with no false positives and passed. As I said, I have never heard of false negatives but if you ring the DVLA they should explain your failure in more detail and what you can do about it. Sorry I can’t be more help. Let us know how you get on.

False negative is the same as Unseen. Did you mean to write 11 false positives?

See below from google . Best wishes

False negatives occur when a patient fails to see a significantly brighter stimulus at a location than was previously seen. False negatives are usually the result of attention lapses or fatigue and are difficult to correct. The visual threshold is the intensity of stimulus seen 50% of the time at each location.

The answer is very technical, How many false negatives can someone get to pass? please can you send me your email, so that I can send you my visual field test to explain it to me better before I send it to DVLA, I want to know whether it's a pass before I send it. The optician said they don't have the right to comment.

Hello. Unfortunately, no one apart from the medical team at the DVLA will be able to tell you if your visual field test results are a pass. It is still worth sending it in to them.

The information about false positives and false negatives that have been described to you are accurate. It is quite technical but try not to get bogged down with it all.

Not what you're looking for?
