I am blind in my left eye it has a pressure reading of 36. I am taking Maxidex and azopt which makes my eye sting. I use a heat pad after using the computer which helps . Can I use the heat pad before putting the eye drops in? will this reduce the stinging?

The heated eye pad will soothe the eye, but not reduce the stinging. Try putting dry eye drops in 20 minutes before the glaucoma drops, as they will lubricate and hydrate the eye and possibly reduce the stinging. If it persists, and your eyes are very sore, red and inflamed, it could be the preservative that is causing the problem. Unfortunately there is no preservative free option for the drops you are using.
Your consultant may be able to prescribe an alternative preservative free option for you. If would be worth asking. You can do this my telephoning the eye secretary, who can then check with the consultant and get back to you.
I was lucky enough to get an appointment at the hospital this afternoon. I have a scratched cornea which is why the maxidex is stinging. Now on antibiotic ointment no more maxidex for the moment and do not use heat pad whilst using ointment. Back to the hospital in 4 weeks time. TY for your recomendation of ringing the secretary.
Hi Lucydog, I was using Maxidex, but had a reaction to it, So I was given the preservative free one which is called Dexafree, I was on Azopt too but have now changed over to the preservative free one which is Dorzolamide which Stings really bad . So if you do think about changing over to preservative free (Azopt) just thought I would let you know.
