Went for another check-up yesterday regarding eye pressures. They have gone down to 18 in each eye, so I am back to just the Monopost at night now with another check up in three months time. The right eye that had the cataract op has healed up, although I still get reflections from lights at night time and see a halo round the eye. Was told this was because the lens had not settled yet and could take up to 6 months to settle. So anyway felt a bit happier. However not so happy again today as at 9am had a call from the eye clinic booking me in for my second cataract op (left eye) on September 6th (6 weeks after the first op) and the day after our wedding anniversary! Tried to get a different week as the road between myself and the next village which we use to get to the main road to the hospital is closed to through traffic until September 10 which means a long drive on a narrow bendy road to get there. Plus I have a funeral on September 1st and we are having to go to the next village where the road closure is as well to pick up my elderly Mum (again having to take the long route to her home, then backtracking as the crematorium is close to the hospital), then will have to do it again two days later for Covid testing, then again for the op. Great fun, I don't think!

Happier and worried at the same time
Some really bad luck for you what a pain it's literally one thing after another exactly what you don't need more stress especially in and around what should be a time of celebration. Organisation is key and then one step at a time is all you can do ay and give yourself more than enough time on each trip so you can take it easy. At least you have some good news but yeah a hard road ahead fingers crossed it all goes well for you and you can take a much needed break when you're in the clear.
Thanks. I hope things will improve soon. Won't be able to take it easy though until after our cat, who has lymphoma, finishes his 6 months course of chemo (some time in September) and hopefully will be in recession. Like most people last year and now this year have not been good. Fingers crossed for everyone that the future is brighter.
Oh poor cat fingers crossed there also, it really has been an awful year for the best of us. Yes hoping 2022 things start to turn around we don't want any more of this ay.
Hi Engima good news about your first cataract operation and drops have been reduced, my pressures last week were 15 and 12 but I was told I had to stay on the 5 drops a day I’m taking. Hopefully when I’m next seen my drops will be reduced too.
Strange how things all come at the same time guess someone thinks we’re up to the challenge! So your next op is September 6th, my laser and biopsy are September 7th, hopefully the buses will run smoothly on that day for me, takes 90 minutes. Take care x
Glad everything is progressing well and your pressure has reduced , good luck for your next eye x
That's positive your pressures have dropped, unfortunately it does take time in some cases to completely settle down but they must be happy enough at hospital with your progress that you have a date for your second op. It's a shame that the date is going to cause you so much hassle, logistically it's not going to be great for you. I hope your wee cat perks up and the chemo works well for him. It's just another source of worry for you, poor wee boy. X
Thanks Witchie346. I did try to get another date so didn't have loads of hassle, but there are none for the following week and I was told that as I had glaucoma was on a priority list. A bit apprehensive because it has only been 6 weeks since the last op and that eye has not settled down yet. Still not feeling too comfortable and getting light reflection around it at night time as I said earlier. So will have two eyes that I will have to get used to. Took our cat to the vets today for his penultimate chemo treatment and am awaiting a date for the last one as I really want to have the vet that has been looking after him all the while (accept on 3 occasions when he was on holiday, which included today) as he knows Bletchley's (my cat) history. It may be that a scan will be done at the same time, so have got everything crossed for him! x
Awe Bletchley is a great name, I will have everything crossed for him too, it's so awful when they are sick.My cataract ops were 6 weeks apart too, fingers crossed the eye you've had done will feel more comfortable by then and that second eye settles down more quickly. I know it is a thought to have them done so close together but your consultant wouldn't do it if he had any concerns.
I live rurally too and though it's gorgeous there are times when it definitely creates a lot of extra hassles. X
Hi, feeling rather down again today. Heard from the vet last night who saw Bletchley yesterday about arranging an appointment with our original vet. When we took him three weeks ago the vet that saw him then said his blood count was slightly high but it was probably an infection, so gave him antibiotics. The vet we saw yesterday said he was concerned as he could feel some thickening in the stomach, although our original vet didn't feel anything abnormal 6 weeks ago. We were told last night that Bletchley could have been in remission and now isn't but a scan will be done after his final lot of chemo. Wish the vet hadn't told us really as we would have had another three weeks without worrying about Bletchley. To change the subject before I start crying again, thanks for your good wishes for my eye op. As ou ay hope the left one settles quickly and feels more comfortable. x
Och Enigma I would be feeling down too and even hearing about Bletchley makes me feel sad. I agree the vet should have said nothing yet not when you have to wait for 3 weeks to find out. Bletchley is your wee furry boy, hugs to him and you. X
Enigma, yours is a post which reveals the challenges of living rurally!😂 I totally get your post. I live in what some might term rural obscurity, where a simple road closure can be a traffic diversion of epic proportions. We’ve just had our key B road closed for weeks elongating every journey. Pain in the neck when you’re busy or doing time sensitive journeys like hospital appointments. But tolerated as often they’re bringing fast broadband, we’ll we hope anyway! Good luck with your next op by the way! 👍🏻
