I used to be able to contact my consultant’s secretary at Moorfields Croydon University Hospital by email if I had a concern, but thus facility no longer appears to work and all my emails are rejected.
when I had my trabeculectomy I was given a telephone number for the Moorfields nurse which I think go through to a Central switchboard for all the Moorfields hospitals. But when I have tried to ring for advice, I haven’t been able to get through. There is no facility to request a call back or leave a message and no indication of when somebody will be available to take the call.
Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t know what I would do now if I had a serious problem.

Although I have not contacted my consultant's secretary by email , I can usually contact a secretary on the phone. I go to a hospital in Somerset.
Have you tried phoning the secretary? then you may be able to ask if they have changed the system.
If you still cannot get a reply then if it was me I would write a letter to tell your opthalmologist about the situation.
I was very surprised recently when I heard that the usual 24 hour emergency eye doctor's contact phone number at my hospital had been cancelled. In future I would have to call A&E . The 24 hr number had been so useful following eye surgery.
When I next visit the virtual eye clinic I will try and find out about the changes here.
Perhaps you could phone your eye outpatients clinic for information so you have an emergency number available. If that fails then your nearest A&E may have an eye doctor on call. Is there an eye ward at your hospital ? as they should know about any contact phone number for 24 hour advice. Have you looked on line for advice and contacts for Moorfields . A few months ago I emailed one of the Moorfield's opthalmologists about some research they were starting , he answered fairly quickly and I was surprised how easy it was then to have this ability on line.
Thank you for letting me know of your experience. The Moorfields secretaries were fab and they always responded to emails within 24 hours. It is so disappointing not to be able to contact them anymore.
