Hi everyone -after reading of so many people and their awful experience with Specsavers and having licences revoked- and I am so fearful for my own future in this regard as we just never know!

I contacted the administrators of this group to see if they could help or raise issues on our behalf and I have just received their reply from Trish........Dont suppose it changes stuff much but her info might be of help to some of us..........Wish could have done more as I so feel for anyone in the vulnerable situation of losing their driving licence ............could be me one day!!!!!!!

Best wishes to all

Thank you for your email. We have been advised by the DVLA that if peoples experiences at Specsavers are unsatisfactory, they need to make the DVLA aware, telling them the branch they attended and their concerns.

They investigate all complaints and speak to the branches directly to resolve issues regarding training etc.,

They have also given us the email to pass onto people glaucomaqueries@dvla.gov.uk

If you want to make us aware with any concerns, it would be best to send it to Helpline@glaucoma.uk as it is covered all the time. We may not be available to answer pm for a few days so best to email us, as this is always covered.

Many thanks Trish Glaucoma Uk

I understnd that changes are being made to the test already - as it is known to be unsatisfactory and many fail when they should not. If Consultant and Optician are both happy with ability to drive - they are apparently now taking this into consideration...so keep challenging if this is the case.

Thats very interesting to know!!- just so terrible that this very important issue for so many people is sooo uphill & dismissed so easily- thing is nobody really gives a toss whether YOU can drive or not but when its YOU thats affected & your everyday life IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT.

Cant help feeling so strongly bout this issue!!

Agree totally- it has messed up my life - big time! I know I am not alone in this...and had been driving perfectly safely with no problems at all untill that point - no reason not to according to Consultant and Optician I have also checked with since! DVLA test is a law unto itself!

Oh hell- can you push it cos thats awful! -get consultant & optician to do letter for DVLA & speak to your MP - try all you can!!!- I'm so scared of it happening to me as got to have field check later this year. It really is appalling & noone gives a sh.....t!! Please persue it if you can cos so unfair that we are not properly heard -cos we are minority & cos they "can" they "do"!!!! Thoughts with you best wishes.

(think more people should challenge for sure!!!!!!)

Form said if challenging then some Evidence MUST be included - was not specific so I rang...held on 45 mins before answered by pkeasant young man who told me he is not medically trained so could not offer advice on this but said if did not include evidence it would be rejected again! My Consultant asked Me what evidence was required - my only guess was Fiekd tests over the last few yeas! Had to get access to my Med Records from previous Hospital to go through myself and find them ..took so long to get responses and the ECLO helped me most in the end. Finally sent half a dozen of them with letter from Consultant to my GP where he confirmed my eyes had been stable since seen by him the last three years...and before that for several years at the other hospital - a slight change to my right eye after Cataract op 3 years ago - stable since - so he did his best for me.. I also confirmed that Boots Optician was happy with my eyes to drive.

I am still sitting with my fingers crossed but worth everyone knowing about the need for evidence situation! Good Luck folks!

Oh that is terrible!!!!........noone gives a toss-well done you indeed for what youve done- alot of people just wouldnt have the "puff" to be able to do all that-esp if older!!! I really do wish someone could properly do something about all this -its totally wrong & cos we are a "minority" what does it matter but it wronly ruins peoples lives,,,,,wish we could get it treated seriously!!

I really hope you get it back-please let us know &I agree we all need to know what evidence needed- such hard work!! Do hope ur sucessful!
