DVLA licence renewal

Two years ago I had to inform the DVLA that I had developed glaucoma in both eyes. It was a very stressful time as I had a trabeculectomy, corrective surgery and cataract removal before embarking on the vision test. The Specsavers team was very helpful in deferring my test until I felt ready to take it. I was very relieved to pass and be issued with a two year licence . (I was already one year through a post 70 3 year licence. ) Knowing my licence was due for renewal this August I’ve been feeling anxious about having to go through the process again. Recently I received a standard renewal form which said I didn’t need to declare a condition about which I had previously informed them. I was simply asked if the condition had got worse. On the basis of what I’ve been told by my consultant and optician I said no. After about ten days I received a new 3 year licence. I couldn’t believe how easy it had been. I wanted to share this positive experience particularly with anyone currently in my situation.
