i had my bleb needling for my left eye yesterday in theatre. I had local anaesthetic and sedation but I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to feel a little pain when they poked me in the eye? My body was tensing up rather than feeling calm. I was only feeling drowsy after the surgery eneded

No, needling shouldn't be uncomfortable or painful. If anyone ever feels any discomfort, they should tell the consultant straight away so they can administer more local anaesthetic.

I had three lots of needling. Twice in clinic without anaesthetic which was has horrible as it sounds. Then a third in theatre with anaesthetic and I didn’t feel pain just a general sort of tugging. Hope you’re okay

i had needling once in clinic with local anaesthetic on my right eye which was still fresh from surgery so there probably wasn’t much scar tissue to remove. Left eye was 6 months post surgery and probably had more scar tissue to remove. It was painful when I felt something go into the eye. Eye is a bit bruised and sore, apart from that I’m doing ok.

I had Preserflo Microshunt in March, and had needling two weeks ago.

I had heaps of an local anaesthetic, however it was soooo painful, I’m not keen at the thought of having it again…

However better that than losing your sight…

i hope I won’t need needling again. But then again the pain is worth it if that will prevent any further slight lost

I've had needling, I cannot recall if it was 3 or 4 times, but every time was in theatre and always the same consultant. The first ones were a breeze with my biggest concern about where to focus my vision to avoid moving my eyes in a dark room with a bright light in my face. For reasons unknown, my last needling seemed pretty brutal. It was like I could feel everything and was squirming. It also seemed to take an age. Then again though, it ended up being the most successful needling I've had. Maybe the consultant had to do more than with the previous ones, I really don't know.

That's interesting! Maybe it seemed brutal to me because they were removing a lot of scar tissue. I have a check up next week so will see if needling has kept my pressure low.
