hi, since adding Brinzolamide eye drops morning and night it has made my eye lashes appear dark and as if I’m wearing eyeliner. Is there anything that can be done to stop this? These drops are working so reluctant to change them. I also take Ganfort in the morning.
Many thanks

Hi Welshsailor, The side effects of bimatoprost can be thickened eyelashes and darkened skin around the eyes I'm taking bimatoprost drops in my left eye and have those side effects. It is noticeable as it looks different from my right eye.
I don't have the shadow and eyelash effect in my right eye now. I did take latanoprost for short while in my right eye and did get some of those side effects but they seem to have worn off a bit since I was taken off them. I had a Hydrus shunt op in my right eye then put on the dorzolamide as pressure not low enough.
It's worth having a close read of the side effects in the patient information leaflet if you can. The shadow effect etc is listed for the bimatoprost. According to Google, dorzolamide is in same family if drops as brinzolomide
Hello there, I have been using latanaprost since January and have the effect you describe. It is a known side effect.I make sure I dab my eyes after putting the drops in so I minimise the darkened skin around them but I must admit I'm loving the thicker darker lashes.I had to have my thyroid removed so my lashes were thin and sparse. No more mascara for me.😁
Its probably the Ganfort then. It is a combination drop which contains the prostaglandin Bimatoprost. With any prostaglandin, the most common side effects are cosmetic ones, thickening of the eyelashes, darkening of the skin around the eyes and possible change in pupil colour. So as long as you are using Ganfort, this will be the case.
Hi Trish Do you know if the appearance of moles could be a factor? I've been on numerous drops for my right eye for many years and have the long lashes, darker pupil, some darker patches on my skin but also a small mole has appeared under my eye that definitely wasn't there several years ago. Not sure if it's something I should be concerned about or not.
Ganfort contains bimatoprost and timolol. It's a ridicolous combination of two drugs working in completely diffefent way. Timolol is ab etablocker, should be used in the morning. Bimatoprost works best when used evenings. Ask your doctor to change Ganfort to Lumigan and Timosan, naturally presevative free.
