Hi all...a few weeks ago there was a thread on here about a possible connection between high eye pressure/eye conditions and Amlopidine blood pressure tablets I have since attended two appointments at Kings College Hospital ....glaucoma clinic (I'm a glaucoma suspect) and medical retina clinic (I have AMD). The consultants/doctors in both clinics have said there is no evidence to prove that these blood pressure tablets cause high eye pressure or any serious eye conditions and there is no reason to change if you are on them. I was so relieved as I've been on Amlopidine for 2 years . I hope this helps put people's mind at rest. This is a great site.

Amlopidine
Thank you EthelPledge, that is a great relief to me as I have been on Amlodipine for ages and was worried about it affecting my IOP. I often wonder if there is a link between high blood pressure and glaucoma, certainly I think high BP makes you more at risk. Thank you so much for the information.
You're welcome. My consultant did say that if I was really concerned then i could ask my GP to change my Amlopidine but to be honest I really don't want another issue trying to get used to new BP medication!
hi EthelPledge. I was told by the consultant after being diagnosed with IOP and suspected Glaucoma that Setraline antidepressants were probably the cause I am currently weaning myself off of them. But who knows if that was the reason!!!!
So glad to hear this EthelPledge as I have been on Amlodipine for two years and was worried about my IOP being affected. Thank you for sharing this information.
