is it safe to take Buscopan as I have Bilateralprimary open angle glaucoma, info on medication says don’t take with glaucoma my Dr says it’s ok to take.

some medications are contraindicated for glaucoma. I personally would not risk it . Maybe check with your eye consultant rather than just your normal GP

Hello nana4me,

I think some drugs are more likely to cause problems with closed angle glaucoma and perhaps Buscopan may be one of these. Your Doctor or a pharmacist may be able to explain.

Many years ago, before I had glaucoma ,I took Buscopan occasionally for Irritable bowel syndrome. Over the years I have found that peppermint oil capsules and sometimes oat biscuits usually help instead.

I also discovered that for me the main culprit was cows milk which became evident after an exclusion diet. (These diets are advised under guidance from doctors or dietitians and can take quite a while, but often well worth the effort.)
