Have been suffering since 2018. Just had first consultation with private Ophtalmologist (via my optician). No luck with NHS.
Eyesight getting worse. Pressure 11.11.12 (right eye). and 16.13.14 (left eye) . Cannot stand bright light. Did not find specialist helpful. He checked my eyes. He did not have field vision tests with him at the time .. He just said this did not matter and will see me in six months ? .I can' t stop worrying. . Any advice ? He confirmed 'low pressure' glaucoma

Hi Ramble24, had your optician previously carried out field tests and a scan of your eyes before referring you to the private opthalmologist? I only ask as I too went down the private route initially, my optician carried out the field tests and scan and gave me copies which I showed the private glaucoma specialist .
Did the opthalmologist prescribe you eye drops ?
I do think some doctors appear to be lacking in interpersonal skills , they just give a diagnosis and that's it but I would certainly expect more from a private consultation . If you don't find the opthalmologist helpful and he has only left you worried I personally would explain this to your optician and ask to be referred to alternative opthalmologist. You need to have confidence and faith in whoever is treating you.
If it is possible where you live I would recommend you go to Specsavers. If the ophthalmologist has a concern they will refer you to the NHS. You say you had no luck with NHS is that because the service for eye conditions is poor?
