I have had my three month post baerveldt implant check. I have been drop free in that eye for just over a week. Pressures currently 18 in that eye and 16 in the right eye where I still have a combination of two drops, monopost and Azarga, so not too bad ๐.
I am due an occupational health appointment with my employer soon as I am struggling a bit with my sight. I still have doubled vision in my recently operated eye and it continues to be a bit swollen. I have quite a bit of peripheral sight loss, especially in my left eye ๐ฌ.
I am finding some tasks increasingly difficult, especially spreadsheets as the lines and numbers just seem to mix themselves up. I am an FE teacher and sometimes feel I need to look for a new career, especially as the admin is quite a lot and my eyes feel too sore to carry on with computer tasks into the evening. Larger monitors donโt seem to help- strangely I find smaller screen more helpful?? I just wondered what jobs other people do and how you manage to cope. Any advice/tips will definitely be appreciated ๐

Hi Euphor, I bet you were relieved to get your check up out of the way . I assume your consultant was happy enough with your eye pressure ? Has he said how long the double vision and swelling are likely to last ?It's not great you are struggling with your job at moment due to your vision, are there any adjustments your job could possibly make to help you with your tasks? A temporary reduction in hours to stop your eyes being so strained until completely healed perhaps ?
I'm sorry I can't help with advice or tips as I retired at 53 before I was diagnosed with glaucoma.
Fingers crossed double vision and swelling don't last very much longer ๐ค.
Thank you for your reply Witchie346. My consultant was happy (as am I ๐) as itโs now a much lower pressure. He didnโt give any indication about the doubled vision though I have read sometimes it can last up to a year. Iโve worked in my current role for around 20 years but really itโs only became more of a problem in the last few years-I think I just hate to be a pest or feel like Iโm not able to do my job as well as I could and feel a little frustrated. I have an appointment soon over the phone with occupational health so hopefully they will have some advice ๐
That's great your pressure is so much lower,it's always such relief when they tell you what your pressure and it's gone down. I really hope your double vision doesn't last that long, we all heal at such different rates.
I understand what you are saying about feeling frustrated but I'm sure no one at work feels you are a pest at all. Occupational Health should hopefully be able to help and come up with some sort of reasonable adjustment for you.
