It was 18 months after taking drops that I had another eye test at the opticians, but that was because at the last eye test they picked up Glaucoma and then referred to the eye clinic. Might be worth asking your GP. Good luck

I'm going to speak with my GP tomorrow because I have also come out in a rash on my chest since taking the drops.

Hi Gemini 71. Just wondering what kind of drops you are taking and what are they for? If it's glaucoma and the drops are to lower the pressure I believe 6 weeks is the maximum amount of time for the drops to keep lowering the pressure.

Hi my drops are called Latanoprost,I've taken them now for about a month, but I was due an eye test September ,but my optician, says I have to be taking the drops for at least six months. before I can have an eye test.to give my eyes a chance to adjust. Now this is all new to me,but that seems a long time.

Six months is not right ay. I'm not sure how it works over there but in my country only a doctor can prescribe Latanaprost. I would go to your GP and ask for a referral to an opthalmologist or if you haven't been officially diagnosed yet get private health insurance and then go to eye doctor. If you do have glaucoma and after a month pressure is still high you may need surgery.

Hi Gemini71 think it might be best to get the optician to clarify why they are suggesting six months? I have my vision test at the opticians every year at the same sort of time regardless of what drops I am on. Which drops have you been given? Keep in touch and let us know how you get on x

Hi Gemini, i live in france 2 years ago i was in the uk and i had an eye test they immediately sent me to the eye hospital in london.... they told me i needed a field test.... i was returning to france so i made an appointment... the doctor there did the field test and told me i had high pressure... she gave me lanataprost the name here is monoprost... i was told to come back in 2 weeks and i did and my pressure had gone down within 2 weeks... this sounds ridiculous 6 months and i would get myself a consultant... at least you are on drops... what kind of glaucoma do you have... i have open angle... i just got slt laser in march and touch wood its working and pressure gone down... its now 2 years later and monoprost stopped working for me... so i got slt laser my pressure went up to 28 and now its 18... take care valfrance ps read my posts on slt laser and other posts on natural supplements you can take

Hello. All I can think of is that your optician thinks it takes this long for your eye pressure to lower after using the eye drops. I would think 2-3 months is a sufficient time to wait as this is the normal timescale consultants like to see people after first diagnosis. You also mention the rash on your chest. Doing punctal oclussion after putting your drops in can help reduce the side effects. Once youv'e put you eye drop in, close your eye and press on the tear duct for up to two minutes. This will stop the drop from getting into the tear duct and travelling to the back of the throat and getting into the blood stream, encouraging side effects.
