What advice have you been given, and by whom

I have used eyedrops since 2011 - firstly Latanoprost then Bimataprost and now Ganfort and I have never shaken mine or been told to do so.

I would have thought that it would have been on the Patient Information Leaflet if required to do so.

Perhaps your Pharmacist could advise you.

I'm the same, never been told to shake the bottle and I've been in drops 40 years

I have used many different eye drops and never remember which ones to shake so I shake them all. If they do need shaking your patient leaflet will tell you.

Apparently it is very important to shake( those that need shaking )when you take them out of the fridge otherwise the solution could settle out.

There was an excellent digital Glaucoma UK talk on drops yesterday and it will probably be available on the website in a while.

Hello tywy, there is no need to shake the bottle before using the latanoprost. However, if you are ever changed to a preservative free option such a monopost you may need to "flick the vial" Always dispose of the vial once you have used it whether there are drops left or not. The reason for this is that there is no preservative and no protection against bacteria so keeping it for longer than necessary is never a good idea.
