Please Julie you are not burdening us in the least! We are here to share and to support each other! It will be me needing support next week going through my second cataract op! Today I was to have a biopsy on my lower right eye lid however the cataract surgeon said I wasn’t to have it done, so it was rescheduled to Sept. To cut a long story short the hospital phoned to say the surgeon said I could have the biopsy done today! Well there was no way I was going to the hospital, I was looking after my four year old grandson. I explained that the surgeon had actually phoned me to say not to have biopsy done, and that he would cancel biopsy, get me a new date, which he did Sept 7th, and I agreed to it. However it still took two hours until hospital phoned and said ok it’s cancelled for today! No apology just that I need to check on day of cataract surgery that biopsy date is confirmed. I’m pretty exhausted trying to sort it all, it will be ok I know! So Julie it will be ok for you to! Please keep sharing and let us support you! xx

Sunshine you could not make that up, that is unbelievable. You were having to deal with all that whilst caring for your grandson, you do not need this stress x

It's important to express how you feel and in my opinion we should all have access to funded therapy as what we have should be classed as a mental disorder as well as a physical disease. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm going to go on anti-anxiety medication as I can't just turn off the worry and not think about it and I still have days of being really angry at the delay in my diagnosis, angry at myself for not doing more/going to someone who could help and overall just feeling really scared, powerless and defeated by the whole situation. You didn't ask for nor deserve this and you have every right to share your feelings.

Very well said sguy1823. I feel exactly the same - scared, powerless and angry at times. When we are young we take our eyesight so much for granted, then when this hits us we blame ourselves and others but still can do nothing about it. I do hope you can get some benefit from anti anxiety medication. I just try to focus on other things to take my mind off the glaucoma, but must admit it’s hard.

in reply to Redshoes15

I've been thinking about studying a degree by correspondence but doubt I will have the focus for that and of course the obvious what's the point scenario comes into play. You really do just have to take each day as it comes, enjoy the moments as best as you can and hope your next appointment is good news. I haven't given up yet though and will start going to the gym and cycling if and when my vision is better. That's probably my best bet ay, exercising with headphones/music as a distraction but everyone is different, some people like cooking some like art whatever floats your boat I'm ranting now got my appointment in two days and hope my pressure has gone up a bit as I'm really tired of blurry vision ay

Good luck with your appointment. Mine is also in 2 days time - your pressures need to go up, mine to go down! Funny old game isn’t it. Yes I find exercise works for me, certainly makes you feel better and that must surely help your eyes. Keep smiling 😊

in reply to Redshoes15

Hoping for the best for the both of us and that our results don't get mixed up haha. Doom and gloom doesn't help, that's for sure. Same to you :-)

in reply to Redshoes15

Good luck with your appointment, hope your pressure is down tomorrow. Will have my fingers crossed for you. How is your horrible sinusitis, are you feeling any better ? X

Much better today thanks but I am also suffering with hay fever (pollen count is very high down here). My appointment is not until 4 pm so I have all day to worry about it! As you say - fingers crossed ...... How are you doing? xxx

in reply to Redshoes15

I hate afternoon appointments they are torture you just want it over and done with . You are definitely suffering at moment hope pollen count lowers for your sake. What do you take for hay fever as I was told antihistamines with glaucoma are a no no. I always meant to get clarification from my consultant. I get a runny nose with pollen, very attractive and sometimes itchy eyes but not too badly so I've been taking nothing for it. I'm good I'm just in from walking Lu and now I'm going to workout and then read in the sun for a couple of hours. My appointment is on Tuesday aargh but I will leave my panicking till Monday. X

No I never take antihistamines for that reason so just have to suffer in the hay fever season, I’m not too bad today so hope that continues. The weather is beautiful today here too - enjoy your doggy walks xx

in reply to Redshoes15

Thank you and enjoy your day x

Hi Witchie, yes all good today and much better than I expected thank you. Pressures down to 15 and he says it’s working well - hooray! I haven’t got to go again now for 2 months, had a glass of 🍾 tonight. Cheers! xx

in reply to Redshoes15

Brilliant that is so good 😊. What a huge relief, you definitely deserved a glass or two . No appointment for 2 months that's a result hurrah x

Hi Sguy1823! Go for it! Try that correspondence course. Maybe join a study group for support. That’s what I did and amazed I passed my exam. It gave me such a boost of confidence and a great distraction from the big fat horrible Glaucoma worries. 👍🏻

in reply to Beecalmed

Thanks for the encouragement. The main thing holding me back at the moment is blurry vision but that will hopefully be gone in a few weeks and I can still see the screen if I go up really close.

Thankyou so much for your message. Xx

No worries JulieBookworm1968! We all have bad days and that’s what this forum is for, it’s an opportunity to vent, or sometimes to celebrate, the highs and lows of glaucoma with people who really, really understand. And you are having an op shortly so it would be strange if you didn’t have some wobbles in the run up, I know I would! 🙂
