Many of the members that find this HealthUnlocked community usually are newly diagnosed and are looking for recommendations, support, and more importantly, hope.

So, what main piece of advice would you provide for the new members who are newly diagnosed with lung cancer?

To not be afraid I know thats hard. Try to make sure you have agood support system. Family, freinds, the people here on healthunlocked/freetobreathe.we are all here for each other. That helps alot to have others that have lung cancer to be there for each other.

Don't rush into anything. Educate yourself, and get a second opinion.

Realize that there is new treatments and trials to be joined, so don't give up hope. Also, allow yourself to have pity throughout your treatment, but then pull it together and realize that if other's have gone through the process then so can you. Celebrate all the little things that happen in your life, and lean on those around you.

Think positive your brain has a lot to do with reaction in the body

Try to research all the different options including natural healing. After educating yourself decide which way to go. Do not let doctors push you into treatments. It is your body your life knowledge is power. Good luck!

Put your faith in the Lord. He is the great physician and says He'll never leave nor forsake you. With that being said, don't allow yourself to dwell on the fact you have lung cancer. I have stage 3b NSC lung cancer. I love life as though I don't have a worry in the world. I honestly have given the cancer to God because I can't handle it. During the treatments, life will not be easy. Try to stay positive and when they're finished, live life to the fullest. Remember, No one is promised tomorrow. May Gid be with you.

Keep a positive attitude. I was so tired at one time and the family had to go to work. I literally crawled from the back of the house to the kitchen to get some orange sherbet and ginger ale. I never once thought that cancer would take me. I was diagnosed with Stage III, non small cell. cancer in right lung. I am 2.5 years in to remission, and continue to pray every day.
