I suffer with nerve pain as well. I take morphine tablets and GABAPENTON. It helps but the pain is still b d at night. I think I just have to live with it.
I have peripheral neuropathy and have found that Azathioprine helps a lot.Gabapentin and Pregabalin didn't !
Hi same with me. Gaberpentin and pregabalin no good. Haven't found anything that works for me. Just putting up with it at the moment.
Hi
Gabapentin gave me relief to begin with but then I needed higher doses and I began to feel like a zombie ! so I stopped taking it. I am now on Amitriptyline which is an antidepressant but also used to treat nerve pain. I am only taking a low dose which I take in the evening and in the last month of taking it I have only had 1 night when the pain has kept me awake. Getting more sleep has made a real difference overall.
i am taking Lyrica 25mg twice a day.gets rid of pain and reduces a lot of discomfort.tried all sorts, but having to live with. It's good to keep reading comments on things worth trying
I do 2700mg gabapenton and 60mg duloxine. Drugs don't work as well as they did. I am a living functioning successful person that would prefer to go to sleep and never wake up. It is a horrible illness.
on gabapentine, digoxin and lyrica I need to drive and am frightened of taking too many drugs. Would love to be without pain. Any sugggestions.? yvonne
What r ur symtoms my arms and shoulders kill me. I think i have non diabetic Neuropathy. I go to neurologist this Wednesday. If u wanna talk reply
I suffer from idiopathic neuropathy. It started on one side of my right foot and is now in both feet and legs from knee down - horrible sensations of prickling, burning, soles of feet feeling thick and spongy and sometimes icy cold even though warm when touched. Also get a lot of cramping.
Neurologist can't help and I have refused the drugs offered - my husband tried all of them and had horrible side effects, especially with Lyrica which took him a long time to get over.
I am thinking of trying Alpha Lipoic Acid as I have read it can really help neuropathy - they do mainly say diabetic neuropathy, but think I may give it a try as some people say it has worked wonders.
Has anybody here tried it?
My physician referred me to a foot specialist. He ordered me a cream, that's comes in a pump bottle. I haven't received it yet but, another friend told me that it works great.
I am on Lyrica too or Pregablin which I think is its other name, I am normally ok with it but my feet have been really bad this last week or so, keeping me awake or waking me with the burning, tickly, irritation. I think its because due to the nerve damage my skin on my feet builds up really quickly and its because I need to get some moisture into my skin but whatever I put on it makes it sore or irritates it more.
On methadone for mine
Cymbalta works vret for pdriphal neuropathy
I too have the nondiabetic neuropathy. I have been able to get relief from the burning and the pain by taking B12 injections. I started with 1 a day for 5 days. Then 1 a week. I tried to go for 1 a month, but that didn't not work. So, I figured out that 1 a week works. So, 1 a week for me works. I have been doing this for almost a year. Good luck and I hope this helps.
One other thing about the B12 injections you may have to convince your doctor. My was reluctant at first, but I told him you can not overdose on B12 and if it helps I will let you know. So since then he has been telling some of his other patients.
So far I have not had anything for the neuropathy but am seeing the Neuro specialist on Monday . Have had all the tests , plus 6 B12 injections. Now my arms and hands are so painful I can hardly move them. They do not seem to be going numb like my feet and legs. Trying to get about and moving as much as possible. They have put me on methotrexate for 3 months trial , I am still waiting for surgery on my foot. Am so grateful for all your help everyone, trying to stay positive. Took 2 amitriptyline last night to get some sleep, it worked but feeling a bit foggy this morning!.
My neurologist says her patients have had good luck with Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). I have tried it for about 5 weeks so far, and my pain is about 50% less. I am pleased. It has to be compounded, but that isn't a problem. LDN is a bit controversial. You can read about it through a search engine, just enter neuropathy and Low Dose Naltrexone. In its low dose form, the Naltrexone serves a quite different purpose than in its regular dose to help people get off of opioids.
I have found doing gymn and reducing my stress level helps
Glad I decided not to take gaberpentine, having read all the side effects, have started anew scource of ALA from health span, better than Holland and Barrett and half the price, looking at a product Nerveology on Internet from America, very good reviews, docent look like we can get proper B12 supplements. In Britain, read their write up, has any one tried any of the products recommended on the reviews, they all seem to be American.
I have also tried all the nerve drugs (approx 6 different ones) & I also felt sick from them. There is nothing left. Have u found any relief? I am now applying CBD balm to my feet w/min Thc. I get a little relief but it is short lived. Have u found anything yet? Judy
Back on 05/08/19, I had surgery done on an ulcer & big toe, both on my right foot, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis, IN. I was then transfered to a local nursing & rehabilitation center, & stayed 4 weeks there, going through daily physical therapy & daily treatment on my foot. The ulcer has been healing like it had not before. A bone graph was removd from my heel & put in the toe joint. I also have hardware on the big toe side, holding 4 pins. Two go into the bone of my big toe & the other two, going into the bone, just behind the joint, fusing the joint together. I hope to be all healed up, by the end of june.
