Hope: FND Stories (youtube.com)
Another post I just read on another site talking about "re-framing", said this:
Taking the same mindset that we bring into our weekly wins, thinking of the sensory diet (snacks or meals) as my "job" and a productive task really helped me to feel fulfilled. In doing this, I was also able to transition these strategies from self-critique (I shouldn't need this help if others don't) to self-care (I am providing my body with the support it craves and deserves). Maybe I didn't run errands on my old to do list, but I spent time listening to my body and doing something I needed.
Also another great "seizure win" for a member of our Community:
"She put her hand on my back, to show support, and explained to the others that I was seizing.
I immediately went into myself, closed my eyes, and started deep, deliberate breathing.
(When we got home, she complimented me on my concentration)."
"What is so surprising to me is how fast I now recover from these. It used to take weeks to get back to myself. Now it's maybe an hr. Sometimes less. I used to panic at the first sign of a seizure. Now I close my eyes and breath thru it! THAT'S PROGRESS!!"
So you see, it takes time but it can get so much better. When you read these FND stories try and concentrate on the positive and celebrate the little things.
