If you are questioning a 'FND'/'conversion disorder' dx, it's worth asking your doctor to 'think rare'.

Many rare conditions are multi-system/multi-symptom and even conditions that are more straightforwards are often misdiagnosed as 'functional' (or whatever term is trending at the time). If you think you may have been misdiagnosed with 'FND', it's worth showing this to your doctor and asking them to reconsider your diagnosis and 'dare to think rare'.

You can also ask for them to explain the rationale behind your 'FND' dx and which criteria were used in the making of the dx.

What can you do if they refuse to respond and explain the criteria they used and the rationale behind it?

The complaints procedure has been exhausted.

I think that's a question for the admins or Hon Prof Stone. The UK NHS complaints 'procedure' should come with a government health warning. I guess you could contact the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsperson but they were not deemed fit for purpose when I was invited to send a report to them. Things may have changed, tho'. Hope you're doing OK.

Thanks, maybe legal action may prompt a response?!

It's very odd that the FND dx can be made but the rationale can never be questioned, which will lead to more people being misdiagnosed.

I'm good thanks, hope all is good with you.

It may, but the response might be to diagnose you with 'litigation disorder' *Sigh*.I think the article in the BMJ by Hon Prof Stone et al makes it clear that everyone needs to understand the rationale for the dx. It's a bit of a mess tho' cos the people who control the narrative have now shifted the focus to 'internal inconsistencies' as being the 'hallmark' of FND without citing the origin of that hypothesis. I think Jon Stone's self help site was due for a reboot so I would expect to see the 'internal inconsistencies' deal as a banner headline there, when the reboot happens.

Again, I'd turn to the admins here for some answers.

I'm good too, thanks :)
