Please can you advise what consultants you have personally dealt with, that have understood FND and know how to empathise. I’d really like to find a consultant that doesn’t insist I’m stressed and I must have been to get it and that doesn’t think that even though it’s neurological, it isn’t treatable in neurology.
Any suggestions are appreciated
Kindly, Dom

Hi, I was referred to Professor Mark Edwards at St George's hospital London 2 years ago, travelling from North Wales to see him. He is one of the top specialists in FND in the country, highly respected. He is a lovely man, very easy to talk to, takes his time to listen to everything you say, and believes in you. He enrolled me on their 5 day rehab physio in-patient programme, where he recommended Botox injections in my calf muscles. Am now having these injections every 4 months nearer home, and I'm seeing some slight improvement after 17 years of slow deterioration in my walking.
After being left, or different drugs that affected my mental health for 17 months, I finally with help got to Professor Mark Edwards who finally diagnosed me and put me on 4 weeks inpatient program at queens square London. After 17 months of tests and being told either they couldn’t help me as didn’t know what was wrong or told I had anxiety and depression, I was so grateful to have a diagnosis and help. I certainly never had anxiety and depression when I started this journey but through lack of answers I ended up suicidal. Never having being ill in my lifetime of 50 years this was a total shock with no answers for a long time. Getting to the right consultant in a shorter time would have helped immensely.
