Hi all out there I was wondering how many of you have been prescribed bensodiazepines as I was on them for some time and they were good for strong attacks but now my gps won’t give me any and am just left to suffer whereas before they made my life more manageable and I achieved more
Bensodiazepines: Hi all out there I was... - Functional Neurol...
Bensodiazepines
It's absolutely disgraceful. Change doctors? Write a complaint to the practice? It really is not a lot to ask, considering the pills helped you. I have a feeling such things are only possible in this country. One of my GPs once told me GPs get 'penalised', whatever that means, if they prescribe sleeping pills and tranquilisers. No wonder people turn to internet sites where you can buy literally anything, though of course prices are through the roof and I daresay the quality potentially questionable. Mine have always been reliable and I've been buying either diazepam or sleeping pills, both help me sleep, from dodgy sites for twenty odd years now.
Hi Renwick1, From my experience with bensodiazepines, they are great for a "holiday" when days are really bad, not recommended long term, unless you want to become a zombie, have a look at drugs.com/article/benzodiaz... side effects, not good. i can understand why your GP wont give you any more. It seems as though the more you use the more you need and yes addictive. you would also need to see what other medications you are taking there can be reactions with other drugs. i hope this is of some help to you, sorry I cant be of more help.
Dave.
Hi Dave never had a problem with becoming zombie like they just took the edge of things and I could get on with my life a lot better, only other medication is mirtazapine which don’t interact, thanks
Yes, for some reason gps are very eager to prescribe mitrazepine, I wonder why. It made me gain weight and swollen legs. Did nothing for anything else I have problems with, such as inability to sleep and anxiety, one possibly feeding on the other. Addictive? So what? You have this body and this life and you have to do what you can to function! Also, you can take them, and usually do, on a 'need to' basis, not like antidepressants which you're stuck with for a long time and not miss a dose. Best wishes to you, G.
I take lorazepam, but FND specialist Jon Stone recommends against them:
