Hello sal,

yeah it's really baking, isn't it? I've been trying to find ways to stay cool & hydrated. Lots of water, of course, and ice lollies!

My house is quite cool inside (old house with gaps in the wood flooring, lol), but going out can be a bit much. I'm avoiding going out at midday - in fact, round here it doesn't get comfortable until about 4pm, so I try to take my usual short walk then.

Right now, I'm indoors with a fan on. Not sure if the heat's affecting my FNDsymptoms particularly, (I do feel quite fatigued today) , but I must say the sunshine is very pleasant & uplifting 😀

Hi Kittilyn

Ignore my comment about sun tan! I have noticed that I get exhausted by little effort. Just thought it was old(ish) age and poor sleep.

Now you have me thinking (a dangerous trait at the best of times!) Could this be another manifestation of FND? Hypothesis: If my amygdela is in fight and flight mode and reacts to or is triggered by a threat, in the wider animal kingdom, what does an animal do when it gets hot? It lies down and has a nap.

So a possible answer to an innocent question might actually throw light on a symptom of the disorder.

We live and learn.

Is there a neurologist who could comment on my hypothesis?

(Feeling a bit smug!)

Hi Sal

Don't you dare! I have waited years (in Ireland) to get a half-decent tan!

The heat the last couple weeks here in New Mexico have been challenging for me. Last week it got over 100 degrees everyday and up to 105! I struggled with fatigue pretty badly but it might have had something to do with my diet and dehydration. (I just learned that On the KEtogenic diet it's hard for your body to store water, you have drink a lot, more than usual)

I have to get up at 5:30 am if I want to do my run, getting motivated is hard but the heat can easily trigger a seizure for me, so It's what I've got to do.

Lucky for us we live next to a lake so the kids and I going swimming every day to cool off.
