Not sure what to do.

Well, I'm new to all this. I've only been researching FND/CD for a week or so. Here's my story though.

In 2012, while driving home from work my legs just stopped working. I didn't wreck thankfully! I spent a few weeks in the hospital and two months in a PT rehab hospital, and it took about 6 months to be able to walk "normally" again. I was diagnosed with Gillian-Barré syndrome. So we didn't expect it to happen again.

It did in 2014. I lost the use of my legs again, and it was basically a repeat of 2012. In 2015 I went through 3 separate episodes, once losing control of my left foot, once I could barely walk, and once I could hardly move because of pain. Since then I've been okay, but have had days where I feel heavy and I hurt. I also have developed a very bad stutter or just lapses in speech. I will literally stop being able to speak mid sentence. A month ago I lost the use of my legs again. I am still recovering.

I am tired of Neurologists shrugging their shoulders and repeating the same tests over and over again just to tell me it's not Gullain-Barré, MS, CIDP, or Transverse Myelitis.

I need help. The doctors in my area just shrug their shoulders and have the "we'll just poke and prod you while you're sick, then not worry about it when you're not" mentality. This is literally ruining my life, and I'm only 26

Oh huni what an,awful thing to go through at such a young age,

I feel for you and whilst we cant provide answers for you there is always someone to chat to and rant about things. We all have battles and understand your frustration and emotions your going through.

Have you checked out fndhope.org and neurosymptoms.org ? These two websites have a lot of information about FND, new ways of diagnosing it and some treatment and prevention of relapse options.

Unfortunately it does seem that the most effective treatment is an in-hospital stay with a multi-disciplinary approach from health professionals who understand FND and know how to treat it, rather than using the traditional methods of treating patients with the same symptoms.
