hi all,

iv'e been reading quite a few replys about a lot of people with f.n.d. as i posted earlier with my partner 's condition , she had another visit to the g.p. yesterday arranged by her very close friend,

her own docter was away on holiday so my partner's close friend had organised to see another docter ,.

we a pleased to hear that this doctor was so taken back by the amount of tablets that she was on ,so as of yesterday she has started too decrease the amount of 36 per day so over the next 3 weeks she will knocking out at least 1/2 of them ,, her own doctor just kept on perscribing these tablets to my discussed when confronted him about this ,it was if he was saying who is the expert here ,,,,

so i thanked her close friend for getting a 2nd opinion, but we still have a concern on why her legs give way and she falls , once again there's no warning when this is going too happen , hopefully by cutting down on some of these meds may help that , finger; 's crossed , so if anybody out there with same systems has any idea's on what we can do or who could help us the answer we require ,and will her legs giving way , go away in time or is this a problem she is going to have for the future,, ??

well will look forward to watching out for any reply's..

thanks leon

Hi Leon!

Are you a Carer for your partner?

I'm only asking because I look after my wife during the day and work part time

of a night and she has Functional Movement Disorder.

She collapsed 3 years ago in front

of me in Birmingham.

She was 34 then.

She's had all tests done, MRI scans,

Lumber puncture etc.

Her Neurologist put her on Baclofen,

15 mg a day, which is quite low.

However, as her condition has worsened over time, he really felt that the drug wasn't making much difference, but if she stops taking it,

her right leg can go into spasm more violently, so she keeps taking it.

It's a matter of trial and error when it comes to medication.

The leg collapsing is scary and unpredictable because my wife gets it.

It's called ' drop attacks'.

I go everywhere with her and watch her like a hawk outside.

She wears a Brace support.

Does her leg go into spasm Leon?

Has she been advised to wear a brace or any kind of leg support?

This site is excellent for feedback.

We're like one big family.

It's difficult when you don't see the same GP but unfortunately it's a sign of the times we're in.

We're still hoping here in Manchester

for a clinic that specializes in FND.

My wife is on a waiting list.

It's all about financial funding.

Are there any such clinics where

you are living?

Have you had to give up work to look after your partner?

Please reply anytime.

Hope all goes well.

Best wishes to you Leon as we know how difficult it is.
