FPC forum members,
I have been trying to find an online provider for the ultrasensitive PSA, and at a reasonable price. I don't want to drive hours for the test...
Who are y'all using??

Hi NPfisherman,
Iβve used LabCorp that is often operating from Walgreenβs drugstore locations, but I had to drive quite a distance to get to a facility. But, frankly as I begin my sixth year post RARP and SRT after BCR with a PSA of 2.0, I no longer feel that the ultra sensitive PSA is worth the trouble. PSA is a biomarker, so it is just a reference for what is PCa activity within our circulating bodily systems. If a PCa cell has planted itself someplace and has begun replicating, a normal PSA test offer plenty of warning for most guys to pay attention and take the appropriate action.
I had six cancerous pelvic lymph nodes removed during my third treatment, salvage pelvic lymph node surgery, at PSA of 0.13.
Ragnar,
Appreciate the answer... it makes sense for me.... By finding out earlier, I can get an appt at Cleveland Clinic with my MO, and decide the game plan. It takes about 6 weeks to get my Pylarify test, and I plan that for the time when I am above 0.5... then I have to get SBRT ....After I get above 0.1, then it doesn't matter, but for now... yeah... it makes sense....the last time, it took 6 months till I was back on meds... I try and time the SBRT with initial Lupron injection....it would be wonderful if I could put it off forever, or at least for some time longer....for now, I just need the test...

Big Fish - As you already know, I use LEF Labcorp walk-in labs. Jdm3 uses Ulta Labs, but I don;t know if they offer an ultra-sensitive lab. As you also already know the ultra-lab is about $95 at LEF.
(I share the driving issue, as neither of the local Walgreens has an in-store Labcorp facility and I have to drive about 40 miles to the nearest one that does.)
Keep S&W, Ciao - K9 terror
I thought LEF had given up doing the USPSA....hmm... may have to look again... I have a Labcorp in town, so that is better...
Nope, still doing it - price is same as last year @ $99.
lifeextension.com/lab-testi...
I'm in same boat as Ragnar and have an old order for utra-PSA i'd gladly give you if I could.
Damn the turpedoes, Full Stream Ahead - or something like that.
Here in US easily order my own through requestatest.com, $109, using Labcorp locations, zip code based. Apparently not all States permit this.
UltaLabTests.com. Draws are done at any Quest.
How does Quest define "undetectable"?? When I called Ulta, they said it was <.1, which is what most regular PSA labs detect as the range... I am looking for lower than that....I did see they were listing price as $63...
<0.02
Still low enough....I will order one from them as well since I can use the Quest on my way to the basketball games at WVU...
Here are my latest results-
PSA, ICMA (ng/mL)
<0.02 Jan 2024
<0.02 Aug 2024
What is the turnaround on their labs....?? A day or two, or longer??
I dont think LabCorp does ultra-sensitive. Cost at UltaLabTest.com is $64.95 and easy to get 10-15% off your order.
Most are a day or two but the uPSA seems to take about 4 days. I hate the wait.
I get mine the next working day via RequestATest and LabCorp. I order them and get them when I want/where I want.
Went on their site since I am always looking for a good deal and their UPSA was $109. SInce I usually order 5-10 other items also I have always found LabCorp to be higher. My cancer doc orders theirs thru LabCorp but those get covered by Medicare. His draws are usually about 20 tubes. I get Lipoprotein (a), Apolipoprotein B, A1C, T, E2, all the irons, different vitamins, etc. on my own nickel.
You may wish to look at Life Extensions for labs to compare prices...their male panel has a number of the labs you listed for $225 or so...they have an annual sale with 25% off
I find insurers and now Medicare limit testing frequency and I desire to test uPSA more frequently. Also, I find trip to doc for this singular test an unnecessary office visit, especially as I travel.
My onco is at U Chicago but all good so far so just send them PSA results. I use The Block Cancer Center here in Chicago suburbs. I have never been in their offices. Only zoom meetings. I get their battery of tests done every 4 months. Always covered by Medicare except Vit D tests. They also have a certified nutritionist on staff that I deal with a lot. Trying to keep things under control. We all have to be in charge of our health, with docs helping when needed.
Teufelshunde, a name a K9 Terror can appreciate!
I got the Life Over Cancer book, by Dr. Kieth Block early on in my PCa diagnosis/treatment journey. It is an excellent guide for integrative medicine and provides comprehensive content for all aspects related to patient cancer care. Even though it was published in 2009, I expect most of its guidance is still right on-target.
I assume you feel that their zoom consults and quarterly lab tracking has been beneficial for your treatment outcomes? Your comprehensive 20-vial blood draws are the sort of tracking we all would benefit having done.
Stay S&W, Ciao - Capt'n cujoe aka "the sometime K-9 Terror".
He really is a nice guy. We have great chats 2-3 times a year.
I saw this on the results page of what he orders.
