The discovery of Checkpoint Inhibitors was hailed as a possible cure for cancer and for some, like ex-President Jimmy Carter, they have been quite successful. New research at the Technical University of Munich found that inactivation of a protein receptor led to decreased responsiveness to Checkpoint Inhibitors...
RIG-I is a receptor protein that is known to play a role in the body's defense against viruses. Heidegger and a team headed by his colleague Dr. Hendrik Poeck have now discovered that RIG-I also plays a key role in cancer control.
The Science is Coming fast, but I want it to be faster...
There are multiple promising CAR-T or "engineered" CAR-T studies in progress and will be in clinical trials--vaccine trials. Advaxis has a vaccine through Phase 2...
Several new bromodomain inhibitors which can block BRD4 and p300 which drive HULLK in prostate cancer....
These new bromodomain inhibitors will be add ons to Zytiga, Xtandi, Erleada for those that develop resistance.. Drugs to add macrophages to the fight in preclinical and Phase1/2...
SM-88, VERU-111, ARV-110, and many other new drugs...It just takes time, and sadly, many do not have that time... I stick with my prediction of chronic disease state in 5 years and a cure in about 15 years...
I've read about about the CAR-T and that process looks very exciting. As does the new process you just posted about that's coming out of Yale. I will do some reading on the others this weekend!
May your prediction be right at worst ...and too generous at best!
I do not even know what a "nanoghost" looks like but I am intrigued... The Science is advancing incredibly with CRISPR able to cut DNA and they are looking at adding DNA to make cells normal--convert cancer cells...just wild... I watch with wonder and HOPE !!!
I say we all go trick-or-treating to the nearest big teaching hospitals and tell them we're here for the PCa-cure treats! ...who knows, maybe they'll dispense some
I believe by activating macrophages and getting memory T cell immunity --CD4 or CD8 memory cells that can fight on and on when exposed to cancer cells, even post re-inoculation, will be the answer to our issue...
It is why I got excited with the CAR-T infusion with vaccine chaser that MIT did a few months ago.. A 60% cure rate in mice and continued cure despite re-inoculation with cancer cells...
