HI everyone. The first time I applied for DLA I was turned down. I had support from a lovely guy called Dave from Employment and Welfare. He advised us on what the DLA are like and what a tribunal and appeal was like. He supported us all the way. He filled the forms in for us and everything. We put a second form in which was September 2010, which went to appeal, then tribunal which we had to wait for 13 months from when the original claim was made. We won the tribunal but the waiting is hard and the tribunal is hard too. I'm not going to lie, it was one of the most scariest things I've ever done. If you can try and see someone from Employment and Welfare somewhere in your area, good luck and I wish you all well. xxx

Hi everyone, I was also turned down first time for DLA. I'm not sure if you are aware that your also entitled to legal aid for tribunal hearing.

The one thing that is positive at the tribunal hearing is that the Judge, doctor and the independent DLA adviser, they want to hear from you. The one bit of advise I will give they only look at the evidence at the time of appeal, you and I know that could be a year ago. So keep good notes on your health and how your illness be it fibro and the list of other that attach itself to us at that time, that's all they want to hear about. Not your present condition at the time of the hearing. Like the previous I also won both my ESA and DLA tribunal hearings. the waiting is hard, the months are long, but you do eventually get to have your say and your voice will be heard. Good luck and I too wish you all well.
