It could be withdraw symptoms being taken of amitriptyline. U are ment to be reduced of them slowly with supervision
Hi there like amy65 says hope you are gradually being weaned off the medication 30 years is a long time but if you have any concerns ring your surgery for advice about the migraines/pains , that way you can give yourself a piece of mind about the side effects you are experiencing , hope this gets easier for you. Sending best wishes xxx
Any medication like that one should be stopped gradually, otherwise you could end up with some awful withdrawal symptoms.
If your doc had just stopped them dead he's being very irresponsible and obviously doesn't care about his patients.
If I were you I'd go back and tell him you need to be put back on them and weaned off them slowly.
I can't believe he's taken you off without discussing it with you first, or telling you about it! What an irresponsible, unfeeling and unprofessional person! Thought mine were bad enough but even they don't do things like that!
Good luck with it, hope you get something sorted. 💕
There are medicines that will help with migraine prevention. See your GP and ask for help.
I agree, the Amitriptyline shouldn’t be stopped suddenly. You can get all kinds of withdrawal symptoms.
Hello Dotpot,
Sorry to hear you're having terrible migraines. Has the Doctor said why he was taking you off the Amitriptyline?
I suffered with a really bad headache (could have been migraine) for about 6 months or so, over a period at the end of 2017 and beginning of this year. But as quick as it started, it suddenly stopped.
My Gp reckoned it could have been stress (maybe your worry over the tablets?) or a side symptom of the Fibro. But this Gp sent me to the pain clinic, because he didn't know what else he could do for me, and i think he is 1 of the many medical staff I've met who don't/didn't(?) recognise Fibromyalgia.
Please take care and I hope migraine will disappear soon.
