Hi All!

Just wondering if any of you have ever taken accutane/roaccutane/isotretinoin in the past? I took it for acne in my late teens and I've discovered a fair few people giving it the blame for FM!

It's a very high concentration vitamin a drug taken for a very short period of time. Some of the side effects while taking it are absolutely horrendous. Suicidal thoughts, depression, inflammation and pain in the joints and liver damage to mention a few! It wasn't the most pleasant 8 weeks!

Hi Isitlupus...Never heard of them but who knows what side effects these drugs give us. I bet if you asked a chemist or doctor you wouldn't get an answer.....x

Be interesting to try though!

That sounds horrific, poor you.

I have never heard of this drug, is it withdrawn now?

Sometimes we have blind faith in our doctors, perhaps it is up to us to be more cautious and ask more questions.

Is there a support/action group for sufferers of this drug?

I hope you manage to get some proper answers.

X

Hi Isitlupus I'm sorry but I've never heard of this drug. I see by other replies, definitely you need to be cautious by the sounds of it.

Hi Isitlupus

I have never taken any of these medications myself but ehealthme did a survey that found people taking these medications did have Fibro. However, in the same survey they also found people taking Doxycycline antibiotics also had Fibro among other drugs. It is probably either a coincidence or a part of some peoples trigger factors? I personally think more research needs undertaking?

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

My two sons had this drug for acne which was very bad in their teens this was30 years age,. It was stated that this drug is ok for men, but not woman, as it affects there ability to have children, also, can affect their periods,. I would get a doctors advice on this,. The boys acne cleared up after about 3 months.
