Can anyone recommend a hospital or sp... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Can anyone recommend a hospital or specialist in Scotland? My local hospital in Perth have been useless. Thanks Kirsty :)
Hi Kirsty,
I used to live in Perth and went to Taymount GP practice near PRI - they were always very good there. I have searched the web, and can find no mention of a fibro specialist in Scotland, but there have been some academic seminars at Glasgow and in Edinburgh.
The best suggestion I can come up with is to write to the depts of Rheumatology at GRI, Dundee Ninewells, and ERI, and ask if any of their consultants have an interest in fibro.
If you can find someone, then ask your GP to refer you. If they won't, then you may have to consider a private consultation.
Best of luck.

Thank you so much
I have given up trying to get anywhere with my gp and PRI and have decided to take my own action.
Im new to all this so can't thank you enough for the help.

I dont know of any specialists but I used to go to the pain clinic at the southern general and they were very good. I am down in South Ayrshire now. Good luck.
Thank you very much I will look into them. Seems mad that there isn't a specialist in Scotland considering how common fibro is becoming.

Hi Kirsty. I'm also in Scotland (Aberdeen). If you find someone please tell me! GPs hopeless and rheumatology only ruled out arthritis and referred me back to care of GP with no diagnosis. Rubbish! Makes me stressed out when it seems like docs don't care / don't believe me. Just hate it. I too would really like to pay private and get a proper diagnosis once and for all.
Hi there, I will definitely let you know. Im exactly the same getting fed up fighting with my gp and getting no where so decided im going to do things on my own and try get somewhere. Feel that im just a number and doctors want to get through appointments as quickly as possible. Stay positive we will find someone
