Egg collection

Hi im due to have egg collection done this friday at seacroft is anyone else had this done there and what is it like?

Hi Joanne. Sorry this is a late reply. Maybe you are already on your way for your egg collection. If so, I do hope all works out well for you both and you have a good result. If you haven’t already gone, then usually, you are given some sedation by intravenous injection, before the procedure is carried out, to minimise any discomfort. Doing this, you should not remember anything about it, and will be having a cup of tea before you know it! Obviously, it is done through the vagina by piercing the vaginal wall under ultrasound control, locating the ovaries and the follicles. Each follicle is aspirated (fluid drawn off) and hopefully an egg will be found when each sample is viewed under the microscope. That’s about it! Should all be straight forward. I do wish you well if you haven’t already gone and I’m keeping everything crossed for a good egg yield. Regards Diane

Hi Diane, the egg collection went really well, we had alot of eggs and some beautiful embryos, iv now had a day 5 blastocyst transfered back in and 3 more frozen plus another 6 day 6 blastocysts frozen, i can honestly say my whole team have been fantastic, explaining everything to us both every step of the way xx
