IVF in London NHS

Hi, I have had 3 failed IUIs at Barts London. I am hoping the doctor will start me on IVF. I was wondering if it is my choice to go to any hospital for the treatment or does it depend on where you live. eg. If i want to go to Homerton Hospital instead of Barts, would I be able to transfer? Thanks for your help.

Hi Nina. Your PCT (Primary Care Trust) will have its own allocated NHS hospital/clinic to treat infertility patients. You are therefore bound to have treatment there, unless the treatment required is not offered at that hospital/clinic. It would then be “bought in” from another hospital if permitted under your local PCT’s criteria. If you wish to have treatment elsewhere, then you will need to seek private care. Hope this helps.
