Hi everyone this is our third pregnancy and second with assisted conception. I’ve got some pregnancy symptoms and am taking all the medication but feel sick to my stomach about the 6 week scan on Friday. With our first loss I had to go to the clinic without my husband because of COVID and think I’m still traumatised by that… I don’t know what I’m going to do if it’s not good news and I’m so bloated and uncomfortable. Work are also being so unreasonable at the moment and said it’s a burden employing someone pregnant/going through fertility and I feel so angry about it. Any tips on how to manage the nerves before the scan or how to manage it if it’s not good news? Thanks xxx

sensitive 6 week scan on Friday and so frightened
Hi Honeybean,Where abouts are you ? If in the uk you are protected by legislation as soon as your employer is aware so if they are being unreasonable i would remind them of this fact !
I dont really have any tips apart from square breathing when you feel the panic rise and for me i reminded myself there is literally nothing more i can do . I still freak out every appointment though so i think its perfectly natural to feel like you are after a loss/losses .
Fingers crossed for you xxx
Hey,
I dont have any advice but can sympathise with the nerves your feeling right now! After two failed rounds we fell pregnant naturally and am terrified of our 6 week scan next Wednesday, feels like forever away! We’re also telling my parents that day as we’re all going for a long weekend break so having to tell them if not they will get suspicious if I don’t have a few bevvys lol! Just know your not the only one, try to stay positive and think of the good💖let us know how you get on x
Totally understandable. I did a beta HCG test a few days before the first ultrasound scan. There are Indicative range of each week pregnancy, so it will give some hints to you before the ultrasound scan.
Hi. I’m pretty sure your employers aren’t allowed to say that to you. By law (Equality Act 2010), employers must not discriminate against someone they employ because of pregnancy.
Best of luck for your upcoming check!!! I am sure everything is going to be fine....I think we will love to be able to go to the doctor every week to have confirmation from their side that everything is OK.
I work in HR (but in Spain) and as you can imaging going through fertility treatments and all of these things, if I hear that someone says that to another employee I will be getting very upset. To be honest I am not sure about labour work in the UK, but I am pretty sure you sure that you should be protected in this scenario.
I believe in Karma and those people that are not able to be on your shoes today, karma will come back to them.
Take care 🍀
I really hope your scan went ok today?
I’m not sure what they have said to you counts as discrimination exactly, but it would certainly be grounds to make a complaint. Really sorry they said that to you. If you continue to have problems with them, speak to ACAS and/or Pregnant Then Screwed xx
