Anyone had IVF success with low AMH and age against them. I am 42 years old with an amh of 5.3. I’ve had 2 failed cycles 1st cycle 2 eggs transferred and 2nd time 1 egg transfer, each time reaching 5 day blastocyst but no implantation. Is it worth trying again?

Low AHM and 42 years old wanting to try IVF
We're in the same situation as you - 2 rounds, first round 2 blastocysts transfered second round 1 blastocyst, 1 embryo transferred, BFN both times. I've just turned 44. For us I'm not sure it's worth trying again but even as I say that I'm thinking what if we used different drugs...A 44 year old friend has just got pregnant with IVF using her own eggs, so it is possible. But maybe she's the 1 in 20 that gets pregnant at 44, not me. Its really hard to justify using that money when it could be used on things that aren't a gamble. It's different for each person. What's right for one person isn't right for another.
I totally understand, it’s all the unanswered questions that keep going round in my mind - the what if it works this time or I feel different this time and I keep thinking just one more try. But it’s so hard to know when to stop 😕
I'm in the same boat. Only had one cycle so far though and had 1 egg. I'm trying a different clinic and had a hysteroscopy where they cleared out the uterus which apparently wasnt in any shape for implantation. Doing a sperm improving protocol and an egg improving as well. Trying naturally then will do a round in Feb if no BFP before then. But it will be a natural assisted to preserve egg quality.
I got pregnant using donor eggs in the end. I had 3 rounds of IVF using my own eggs with same AMH and just ended up in mc. Worth noting that after transfer a 5 day donor egg blast I ended up with a failed ivf as well though. It blew our mind because they all thought it was a defo as well. I think it was down to what turned out to be a thyroid condition and high antibodies that kept attacking the embryo as a foreign object? Worth getting a thyroid function test and antibodies to rule that out before you go any further. I'll always wonder if the mc would have happened if I'd been on the same drugs I've been on this time round instead if that makes sense. Wishing you all the best.
Hi, I am sorry to hear about your sad story. Did you get pre-genetics screening tests done on your embryos? Have you tried to get an ERA test done to find out the reasons why the implantation didn't happen. Lots of luck and baby dust to you. Don't give up.
I am 42 and my Amh is 15.5. I am scheduled for a FET in early Dec.
Hi
Thank you. No nothing was offered to me and I didn’t even know that tests can be done to find out why implantation didn’t happen. All I was told ‘it’s down to poor egg quality’ 😕
Thanks for the encouragement x
I have a little two year old girl born after my second natural fet - I was 41. I tried high dosage drugs first time round but didn't respond at all well and actually got more eggs going natural/mild!! Did a 3 cycle collection and then gfets...Our first natural fet got BfP but chemical. Haven't had any success since the second ibe but I also have a thyroid condition. P.S. If you do get a thyroid function test, get the number ... 'satisfactory' covers a lot of ground including problematic levels for fertility! Good luck all of you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi
Thanks always nice to hear a positive outcome 😊 My clinic has offered me modified IVF with mild sims as I won’t respond well to high doses.
I am 42 and have similar stats. It took me 5 fresh cycles with my own eggs (including a chemical and early MC), but got my BFP and am currently 13 weeks. The BFPs resulted from 2- or 3-day transfers. My doc felt it was a pure statistics game and that it could take a transfer of up to around 15-20 embryos over time to find "the good one," and that if I persevered (emotionally/physically/financially), I'd eventually have success. Of course, with that said, I'm lucky it happened because I'm not sure I could have done another. Wish you the best and that you feel support whatever you decide. xx
I am 42, nearly 43 and I'm going through my 6th egg collection cycle. My AMH is 3 but it doesn't matter, I produce tons of eggs regardless. AMH is just a number, at the end of the day, it's all about how your body reacts to stimulation and whether you have the right protocol for your body.
I would highly recommend looking into taking supplements - they had a huge impact on my number of eggs, in particular DHEA, Ubiquinol Co-Q10, Mitochondrial energiser with PQQ, Vitamin D, fish oil...
Definitely, Ill be 43 in October.
