I had an HSG test yest and the dye did not go down my tubes at all but the gyne said this could have been due to spasms. Is this common?

Hi jem31
I would love to say don't worry, but I know that's easier said than done.
I have not experienced this personally, but I have heard from other people that it does seem to be quite common.
Hopefully you don't have too long to wait for your laparoscopy. Good luck xxx

Hi. It is not uncommon for tubes to go into spasm due to the pressure of the dye being forced through. However, sometimes a blockage at the entrance of the tubes can sometimes be due to some debris blocking them off. Sometimes this can be removed by a procedure called a selective salpinography, but obviously I cannot say if this is what the problem is. Let’s hope you don’t have to wait too long for the laparoscopy, when all should be revealed. Kind regards. Diane
