I researched a lot at my time, but couldn't find any reliable 'yes' for it being safe during pregnancy. I have stayed away.

I'm 23 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I won't colour my hair until my baby boy is born, you definitely shouldn't colour your hair in the first trimester but I don't feel comfortable doing it at any stage of pregnancy

I did throughout. The dye my hairdresser uses is meant to be gentler and more natural - no ammonia etc- but natural doesn't mean not hazardous and it will have some synthetic chemicals in. It seemed the risk was tiny or as others have said, it's just not assessed as completely safe, which let's face it is almost everything to do with pregnancy. If you're going to worry then maybe it's not worth it for you but most of my friends and family, and me, carried on as normal as everything was fine.

I've avoided hair dye since start of treatment as I couldn't find anything solid to say it was safe but came across few sites that said best to avoid.

I've had grey hair since I was a teen so a lot of the greys have come through now and I'll be fully grey by the time baby's here.

Better to be safe than worry but really up to you!

If it's going to cause worry and anxiety best to avoid.

All the best xx

yes it’s about my grey hair only but as you said it’s ok be fully grey by the delivery time then 🙄

I did highlights in second trimester as does not touch scalp. But have a read of the NHS guidelines: nhs.uk/start-for-life/pregn...

hey. I avoided through the first trimester but coloured after that. Like you, I’ve got loads of greys and was desperate to dye by 12 weeks. I got it done by a hairdresser for the first one, as I read somewhere that it’s better to do this as they’re less likely to get loads of dye on your skin (and it felt like a treat - which I obviously deserved) but through the rest of the pregnancy I did it myself. My son was born completely healthy…no ill effects!!

I've avoided it. Didn't want to take any risks.

I did highlights because they go only on the hair, not the scalp.
