Please could anyone help - I’m 43, so now too old for NHS funded IVF, so will need to go private if we decide to go ahead…
I know that one of the stipulations for NHS funded IVF, is BMI under 30 for myself and my husband…is it the same for private treatment, or do rules differ depending on area?
Many thanks

We are about to start IVF with TFP fertility, and did state BMI must be below 30 before they can start any treatment.
Mine was 31 at the time of NHS referral (September), and the nurse told me BMI needed to be 30. So, reduced my calories to around 1400, high protein, low carb and exercise 4 times a week. I had lost two stone by the time our assessment appointment came around in January.
We are paying for treatment as I already have a child, so potentially we could have gone straight to a private clinic, but NHS were able to fund all the initial testing for me including hormone testing, LH, FSH and semen analysis, Kerotype and cystic fibrosis testing. This would have been very costly privately…
Once we had all the results, the NHS fertility clinic referred to TFP fertility (our choice), the clinic then requested an AMH and follicle scan, assessment appointment which cost £500.
I was weighed at the initial assessment appointment, my BMI is now 27.2.
