There are a lot of success stories of aged happy mothers who became prego with own eggs. However, a woman’s ovarian reserve decreases with age. This reduces the chances of getting pregnant. In addition to this issue, there could be a low mitochondrial activity in women’s eggs. These mitochondria are very important components of any cells. Egg cells cannot function well without healthy active mitochondria. Those not only provide oocytes with energy, but also have their own hereditary DNA material. With a deficiency of active, functioning mitochondria in eggs, even a healthy embryo does not take and the pregnancy does not occur. In this case, successful IVF is possible with using donor mitochondria only. Mitochondria replacement therapy is also called the “three parents method”. This procedure is based on the transplantation of mitochondria from a female donor into an egg cell of a patient who wants to become pregnant. Healthy donor mitochondria are integrated with the patient’s cells, fertilized. After this a healthy embryo is placed in the woman’s uterus. This is a really good watching on the point - youtube.com/watch?v=k1kIYIs....

This technology is also an alternative to surrogacy. It enables families to have genetically healthy children. Since the mitochondrial donation uses the egg of a donor, which does not contain defective mitochondria. The method is also recommended for women with a high probability of the development of mutations in mitochondrial DNA and subsequent severe illnesses in an unborn baby. Taking all this into consideration, mitochondrial donation helps barren women not only to become mothers, but also exclude a number of genetic diseases.

PM you too.

What a kind soul you are! Thank you so much for what you're doing! It means more than you will ever know! I am so happy to read about your good news, good on your other half for helping you to get there too! I took a break from social media. including ttc forums and really spent the last few weeks re-evaluating myself and I'm finally in a better place.

Dear all, I completely understand the message. I've seen about the 2WW wow it's so long haha.

Feels like a rollercoaster. I had ET on Friday which was day 5. they had 2 - 4 cell embies to put back. All seemed to go well and then that evening after I'd fallen asleep I was in a lot of pain. I was bloating, so seeked medical advice. It turned out my body doesn't like the cyclogest so just got to rest and take pain killers. Things seem to be moving more the following day. Also some more like period pain which I've read seems to happen. Just had no idea what is right and wrong. But my gosh the wait until you get that test result is tedious! We got bfp then on day 11 after ET. The BTC team has been awesome all way long, cannot be thankful enough.

I was told 5% after our last cycle failed only getting 1 egg out of me. Then we were going donor that gave us 80%. BUT I have heard stories where for bad responders and with low egg reserve people it has worked! It only takes one, they say. If we had the money we might have tried again with my eggs but we figured we just wanted to be parents one way or another. That gave us the best chance. Years ago I was diagnosed on endo and PCOS. Did several attempts in the life run but in vain. Nothing helped us. It was devastating and heartbreaking to find out my eggs won’t do for IVF. This meant my baby won't be biologically related to me. After another fresh IVF cycle which ended with a miscarriage I took really long 1.5 break to heal emotionally and physically as well..

Finally we found ourselves in Ukrainian clinic, BTC, where we applied for ivf with donor egg. We got our BFP from the 1st attempt. I wish all those who are in my boat success. Also baby dust and those who were successful what your secrets are. I would prefer to get pregnant naturally but if circumstances against – I found out another way to happiness.
