Global Liver Institute’s meeting yesterday benefits everyone.......

I believe we all received via email a link to yesterday’s meeting. Thank You Wayne for providing the link. For me it was time well spent. I did not know that the FDA had, in 2020 I believe, created a Division of Hepatology. The meeting provided the opportunity for several NASH patients, and patient advocate leaders to speak directly to the FDA, including the new Division of Hepatology Director. Wayne spoke of the need for the FDA to do all they could to expedite the clinical trial process while still proceeding carefully. He also spoke about liver biopsy, and while still useful in some cases, advances have been made in testing which would diminish the need for those participating in clinical trials to have a biopsy as a requirement for participation. Also, we are aware of the problem with a liver biopsy being a hit or miss situation. Wayne also stressed we are collectively on the brink of a breakthrough which would result in the first ever FDA approved mediation. Hopefully this meeting yesterday is just the beginning of a dialogue and an ongoing conversation between the FDA, patient advocates, and patients. I believe members who view the meeting will also agree it was time well spent.

Best Wishes to All,

I guess I missed the e-mail on the meeting, however I am on the real pill which is trying to be approved by the FDA. My last biopsy was a nightmare so glad that is not required. They have already told me it was not a requirement to take the last one. I have had 2 so far. I'm at about 23 months of the trial. I renewed after the first 18 months. I was in stage 4, they say I'm in stage 3 at the end of my first 18 months. I'm not cured by any means, but I feel I'm on my way. Still fighting with weight but down 80 pounds with about 40 yet to go, but it has taken me years to get it off. Thanks for the update. I would of loved that meeting.

Hi Alterity,

If you would like to view the very recent virtual meeting sponsored by the Global Liver Institute you can see it on You Tube. That’s where I viewed it. Just search: Global Liver Institute on You Tube. The title is: Global Liver Institute NASH Externally-Led Patient-Focused Drug Development. Hope this helps as I already deleted the link.

Best Wishes,
