If it is normal, what are some treatments that can relieve the discomfort?

Is it deep like in the bone or is the pain more on the surface of the muscle? I believe the surface-type muscle pain is something many experience. The deep in the bone type of pain is less common. I've done massagers, inversion table, and red light therapy. I had pain the first year then it got better over time.
