Hi, I’m going through treatment at the moment for facial palsy. At my last consultation, I was given Botox in my forehead to help alleviate the pain I am in and also to allow more exercises to help recovery ( it was too painful to do the max prior). I have found it has helped ease it , it hasn’t gone, but I opted for the weaker option of Botox, as its not something I really want in my face.

I have been told I will need Botox for my eye ( still can’t close without tape or weight for more than 10 secs) and also my mouth, further down the line., possibly a year.

With the experience now of having the treatment, I will be more happy to go ahead when I reach the next stage, whenever that is. It was a bit sore for 24 hrs after, and I felt nauseous for a couple of days. Looks like the recovery will be longer than I hoped, but at least the potential is to improve.

My advice based on my experience , is go for it.

Btw if you have a peanut allergy, Botox may not be for you, as on the leaflet I got it was not an option. I only read it after the treatment .

Hi again,

Just to say the Botox has now the full effect in my face, it is helping me with some pain, however, I thought I’d better tell you, my synkensis in the eye has got worse, I think it’s to do with the Botox , so I suspect I probably should have had the eye done at the same time. Physio has told me to stop exercises for my eye and concentrate on massage/ stretch.

Secondly my eyes are drier too ( an unwelcome result). Thought you should know of my side effects.

Thank you so much for your reply, every time l drink or eat, my eye moves involuntarily..... l didn’t want it to become worse... and it is dry.. so l won’t be doing the botox

I wasn’t warned, so I feel it’s right to pass on my experience . I hope you improve soon
