So Im back to work today, and really only concerned with my eye site. I have noticed a lack of clarity in my right eye, even though i keep it lubed up. can anyone tell me if this could leave me with permanent damage or will it recover as well. as if it wasn't bad enough that I eat like a camel and drink like a donkey. :>) Looking forward to receiving blood results this week. Hope you are all well. (as can be expected).

Hi Jon2010, I also had the same concern, but mine was mainly due to the fact that I couldn't blink (not sure if you can?) so moisture/liquid wasn't clearing from my eye, so I would get a lot of gunk in it. I'm 5 months down the line and my vision seems fine, and blinking is getting better so don't have this issue so much anymore.

My recommendations would be to manually blink as much as you can, and I also wear clear (fake/fashion) glasses to protect my eye (especially helpful in air conditioning!)

If this doesn't help, maybe speak to your doctor as I don't think your vision should be effected.

thanks for the advice. I never actually made it to work, as a college of mine pointed out, it would be better to stay at home and recover in piece. Well, I did that, and happy to report that I have a little movement back in my cheek, I can close my eye a little more and not dribbling as much when I drink my coffee in the morning. Great. However now I have a severe stabing pain in my lower back, which came on over the weekend. I got up this morning and could hardly walk. So I looked up possible links between back pain and BP and found the HERPES ZOSTER virus can cause both of my symptoms. My sister recommended ACYCLOVIR tablets to combat this virus. Has anyone else had any experience with this. Back to the docs today. Will keep you posted.

Hi Jon after I had my 2nd episode of Bell’s palsy I spoke to an ENT Consultant and he said to me that if I got it again to get acyclovir as well as the steroids, because apparently the acyclovir only works when the virus is active, the same virus also causes shingles so maybe that is the problem with your back, shingles appears usually in little spots along nerve lines which is very painful. I hope this has helped a little.

I know of some that vision started to blur , and the cause of it was a tumor in the brain. Thank you.
