I feel that I am in an old person body ,which is stopping me do the things I want to do, I find it extremely frustrating and have a very low self esteem because of this .Trying very hard to be strong.

I know that feeling. After two Brain stem strokes and a heart attack. I feel like a 61 year old in an 81 year old body, but we‘re still here so keep going each small step is an achievement I walk each day I swim a little twice a week and I go to the gym twice a week. I am very limited to what I can do in the gym It it helps me a lot 👍👍

Hi BONorange thanks for posting! You are incredibly strong for continuing despite your frustrations. I think that illness/injury and our chronic conditions can sometimes change our ability levels very quickly and it's a very difficult thing to come to terms with.

Accepting that you are where you are is not giving up - it sometimes requires a lot of strength to believe that it is just the starting point for finding out where you can go from here. One of our favourite phrases here at EXI is "Start where you are, do what you can" - it sounds like you're already doing that, so well done!

I think you are incredibly strong to share and to try. From my own experience, I would say building up very slowly and keeping going is more important than trying to compare yourself to others or setting perhaps unrealistic challenges. I am trying to focus on me and my situation, my aches and pains and trying to do just a little bit more this week than I did last week. I am making slow progress but it is progress and that gives me heart.
