constipation

Have you ever disimpacted him? The soiling is a sign he is backed up.
hi yes I have done that before, sometimes he has a full stool in his underwear, he's lost all urge sais he doesn't feel anything at all
Have you ever reached watery stools consistently for three days before you reduce down extremely slowly i.e. one sachet every three days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on? Is he on a stimulant laxative too?
Unfortunately it can take time for the feeling to come back. How much senna is he on? Do you encourage regular toilet sits after every meal?
he's on 5ml a day of senna, yeh I sit him down regularly, he could be soiling at the time I sit him down but he never ever goes on the toilet it's been nearly a year now its so draining, can't get any help from the doctors due to covid I guess
Have you tried Microlax 5ml enemas? You can buy these without prescriptions. We have had similar issues. Now seem to be improving but using Ducosate (10ml x2 a day) as it leaves stools a little bulkier, also 5 ml liquid paraffin and 10 ml senna. Enema have helped knowing he’s gone to loo first thing. Specialist put him on 7 days initially now we are doing every other day for a month. He sits on loo for 20 mins after meals. Watches “Poo Goes Home” and iPlayer. It’s so stressful, keep going, I found when the pant soiling happened again there was likely a smaller blockage so I think the enemas helped. Maybe you can discuss enemas with your GP. Reducing sugar intake has also helped us. We were asked to exclude dairy for a week to see if improved then wheat, then low fructose and then soya but soya very difficult to exclude so easier to drink lots of soya for a couple of days and see if symptoms get worse. Slowly now we are having less accidents. We only had a change with less sugar and it wasn’t identified as an intolerance but clearly for us reducing sugar has helped with the runny poo. When we reduced the lax dose too much the rabbit dropping poo returned with the leakage. Doc can also prescribe micro enemas.
